Synopsis
From vertical to horizontal, carbonate to clastic, stuck pipe remains a challenge in all drilling environments. The impact of stuck pipe events goes beyond just operational non-productive time having impacts on stakeholder relations, equipment supply and future operations. Tonight the presenter will share some of his experiences and learnings from drilling and remediation operations around the world with the SPE Northern Emirates Group.
Speaker background
Martin Hayes holds a BSc (hons.) in Applied Geology from the University of Leicester and is recognised as a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Petroleum Engineer by the Energy Institute. He currently works as a Senior Drilling Engineer for Dragon Oil and has spent over 25 years in the drilling industry worldwide working with in drilling design, operations, training and support for companies including Schlumberger, Black Reiver Consulting, Stanfield Consultants Ltd, Merlin ERD, Tullow Oil, One&Zero, WellSafe Solutions, Bedrock Drilling, Torus Insurance and Gulf Keystone. Martin sits on the Editorial Review Board of the SPE Journal of Petroleum Technology as the Feature Review of Bits and Bottomhole Assemblies.
